Sound sculpture
Transparent acryllic tubes, Speakers, Custom electronics
The Forest Organ is a site specific sound sculpture created in a collaboration between artists Søren Lyngsø Knudsen and Birgitte Kristensen for the exhibition Sculpture by the Sea 2013.
The work is at the same time a computer controlled instrument integrated into the landscape and a dynamic sculpture consisting of sound.
The Forest Organ was situated in a clearing in the forest where it engaged in a dialogue with the site’s elevated atmosphere by creating a timbral space in constant change, in which the audience could enter and experience the place and the sound both physically and sensually on their body and soul.
The sounds generated by The Forest Organ were recorded during the exhibition, edited and released in digital format and on clear vinyl.
It is available on Bandcamp.
