“Land” is an electronic instrument and a travelling concert-installation.
It consist of multiple speakers connected in a modular network, powered by multiple computer nodes and controlled via a main terminal. The modules contain various synthesis elements as well as sampling modules for live performances.
The one hour composition for the premiere consisted of pre-composed material as well as improvised sections. The basis of the composition was sound recorded in nature on various occasions and places during travels in the recent years. Sounds such as water streams and wind, but also more unusual ambient sounds like the hum from aircondition systems, refrigerators etc. All manipulated and controlled via the “Land”-system.
“Land” was built to be mobile and waterproof for the purpose of being set up both indoors and outdoors. Especially with alternative venues in mind – where the powerful system will be experienced in synthesis with its likewise powerful surroundings.
