Melting Pot made in Wroclaw started out in 2013 in collaboration with Jazz Plays Europe and Take Five, which bring innovative European musicians together in a musical laboratory of improvisation.
The musicians of Melting Pot met in November 2013 during the Jazztopad Festival in Wroclaw and new musicians will be added to the project annually until 2016, when Wroclaw is appointed European Capitol of Culture.
Three artists from Wroclaw form the nucleus of Melting Pot: Piotr Damasiewicz (trp), Mateusz Rybicki (cl) and the painter, Stanislaw Szumski. Melting Pot will also be performing in the project’s partner countries, and in Denmark Aarhus Jazz Festival will present the first edition of Melting Pot made in Wroclaw.
The musicians of Melting Pot use references to hard bop, modal jazz, free jazz, classical European music, film music, bebop, minimalist music, visual art and electronic music.
The concerts is held in cooperation with Jazztopad Festival (Poland), JazzWerkRuhr (Germany), Improvised Music (Ireland), DSI Swinging Europe (Denmark) and the Polish embassy in Copenhagen.
